Fox Rampage RS Film + Renders
When Fox Racing approached us to collaborate on their newest helmet launch, we couldn't have been happier. Fox had the goal of building the safest helmet in the world by doing top notch in-house testing and development. The creation: The Rampage RS aka Feature Creature, is now the coolest and safest helmet ever to protect riders who are going faster, bigger and riding more aggressively.
VM was asked to handle all the 3D and VFX work on the Rampage RS launch film. But to do this the right way we had to be on set to VFX supervise. Our VFX supervisor Nick Kelley was on set in BC with Director of Photography Cole Nelson.
The crew had the privilege of working with one one of the best mountain bikers in the world, Red Bull athlete Jackson Goldstone.
If you haven’t seen the film yet you can see it here:
While our VFX supervisor Nick was on set, we had our 3D lead Ivan build out every detail of the helmet in Cinema 4D. By the time post production began, the photo realistic asset was ready to be comped into the VFX shots.
Have a quick look of the 3D helmet shading process:
One of the first deliveries our team produced were the still renders for PDP. These look pretty sick if we don't say so ourselves:
HDRIs were captured on set for realistic lighting and reflections on our 3D model that was comped into the VFX shots.
Our team is highly proficient in the industry standard Nuke but Fusion was used as the tool of choice for the compositing work in this film. The turn around on this project was incredibly fast and our team found Fusion to be a lightweight and faster tool for the high end compositing work.
Here's a little behind the scenes look at the comp work in Fusion:
We loved seeing our renders in the wild at the Rampage RS launch in Leogang, Austria:
Big shoutout to the awesome team on this!!
